History

Umut Lodge was formed in Hamburg as Benjamin Franklin Lodge by a small group of German Freemasons in 2013 under the American Canadian Grand Lodge and within the United Grand Lodges of Germany. Initially it worked in the German language, but changed to the English language Rituals and Workings in 2014. In 2025 Benjamin Franklin Lodge became Umut Lodge, and began working in the Turkish language, to provide a Masonic base and centre for the Turkish community in Hamburg and the surrounding area.
